PPT Files

When the word count of a PPT file is unknown, you don’t need to get in touch with the CS team. The CS teams needs to be contacted when the file type is PDF or Latex, as they use a software to calculate the word count in such cases. If the calculated word count is within the 50%/1000 words limit, you needn’t approach CS; you can just update the word count under the editor’s process with a note for PM in the instructions so that the reviewer has the same count under their process and revolve the ticket.

A to-do needs to be added for EOCs to ensure that they are correctly invoiced.

Use the following steps to get the word count for PPT files:

  1. Go to File and then select Info

  1. On the right, you will see Properties. You need to select Show All Properties located at the bottom of the list.

  1. Once the Properties expand to show more information, you’ll see the Words mentioned.

In case the slides include images, this process will not work, and the count needs to be calculated manually. If the figure text is minimal, you can calculate it. CS should be approached for excessive figure text.

Excel Files

For Excel files, you can copy all the content into an MS Word document. If the word count seems off,  you can approach the CS team for clarification.
